Jasmine & Chase: Alberta country couple

What happens when a creative "do-it-yourself" bride and her beau visit a farm and its barn on an Alberta Fall day? A wonderful wedding fusion of rustic charm and creative elegance... complete with mason jars, burlap and even a few horses!
Here is the story of their wedding day, full of loving details & creative ideas, seen, witnessed, recorded & narrated by their talented photographer, Melanie Mayer

Rustic vintage chaulkboard sign, welcoming wedding guests

Chase and Jasmine's rustic wedding day took place on a perfect fall day. Yellow leaves blanketed the ground and the air was fresh and crisp. The bride started the day by having her hair styled at Puressence, a trendy local salon. She continued getting ready with her bridesmaids at Life Church, where the ceremony was also being held. Delicate strings of pearls adorned her wrists and neck, and she wore a cream coloured, elegant gown- she looked absolutely breathtaking.

The couple was wed in a touching ceremony filled with tears from family members and lots of laughs shared between the bride and groom. Chase and Jasmine work in the Yukon in a mine, and it just so happens that the history channel is making a television series about what they do! A History Channel Film Crew was present to film their wedding day, which was really exciting. After the ceremony, we headed to a beautiful farm to take photos. I loved all of the curious horses who wanted to be a part of the photos too! Most of the day was cloudy and we were very fortunate to have the sun peek through the clouds just as it was setting for some golden, glowing light.

Young Love: Inspirationsal bridal photoshoot by Edmonton wedding planner Stacey Foley; as seen on Bride.Canada

This Groundhog's Day, we were told to expect another six weeks of winter. While it wasn't the news many of us hoped for, it did signal a countdown: spring is coming... eventually. So as the snow continues to fall, I can think of no better way to warm my insides than with this gorgeous stylized shoot from Edmonton wedding planner, Stacey Foley of JoyFoley Weddings. With gowns by Jim Hjelm and Alvina Valenta, flowers by FaBLOOMosity, and photography by Eternal Reflections, you will definitely want to check out every last detail!

Peach / blush / coral wedding theme. Bridal photoshoot by Edmonton wedding planner Stacey Foley; as seen on Bride.Canada

From Stacey Foley: When I started the design of this shoot I was inspired by the beginnings of every relationship. When it felt as though time stood still for you and the world stopped moving if just for a minute. The time when your stomach was constantly filled with butterflies and your heart was forever a-flutter. The time when love is young and every dream is reachable.

And what signals spring more that young love?

"Bold and Energetic"..

Bright & colorfull wedding decorations

photo : Mikio.com

Orange, green, blue, lime... getting married this winter of 2012/2013 offers many colour options for your wedding but what is the hot colour of the season?
Each and every year, Pantone (the design world's colour authority), issues its list for the year's top 10 colours. From that list, one usually is hailed the top overall colour of the year. For example, in 2012, tangerine orange was the hallmark colour that many a wedding theme was based on.

So.. what can we expect for 2013 weddings?

"A contrast between muted tones and bright, bold injections of colour" is the hottest trend for weddings in 2013. (how appropriately vague!). Shades of green, blue, red and yellow have made the Pantone list this year and we are predicting either a shade of blue or green will be the year's hallmark colour. Our feeling is that mint green will be the overall style maker of 2013.

But, if you are planning a winter wedding, you are in between the 2012 and 2013 wedding season. So, how do you choose which year's colours to use in your winter wedding planning?

Well, both bright colours like yellow and muted tones like lavender are on the list of top colour trends in 2013. Colours like orange, pewter and lilac were hot for 2012. So, to be on the cutting edge of what's fashionable this winter, try combining different colours to see which combination would create a great look for your wedding décor. Work within the palette of popular colours for both years and experiment with different options till you get it just right.

Tip

When in doubt, just go with your favourite wedding colour and punch it up with a contrasting accent colour to keep your look in pace with what's in style in the 2012-2013 wedding season.

Our take: Winter 2013's Wedding Colour Combinations

Orange and Dark Chocolate

Can you feel the warmth? Pair up the summer's hottest colour with a warm indulgent dark chocolate and you are good to go. For added elegance, add a touch gold throughout. Or, to make it super current, add touches of mustard yellow. Now, this is a perfect winter combination!

"A warm summer's day, a view like to a Tuscan landscape, a beautiful bride and groom, equals one perfect wedding"..

When? June 18, 2011
Where? God's Mountain Chalet, Penticton, British Columbia
Photography: Kevin Trowbridge, Kelowna

The Couple

When Calgary natives, Chelsea and Steve planned their wedding in the beautiful Okanagan region of British Columbia, they made sure their surroundings created the focal point for the day. With breathtaking views of Lake Skaha below, the couple took their vows and celebrated with family and friends that had joined them from far and wide for the occasion.

The Photo Ops

The couple enjoyed some quite time before and after the ceremony for some all important photo ops. The lush vegetation at Linden Gardens set the scene before the ceremony during the couples "first look" photos, while the chalet was the stage for the fabulous shots after the ceremony ...
