After the cake has been cut, the bouquet has been thrown, and the night has been danced away, you can head home with your hubbie and finally relax, knowing it's all over In reality, though, the actual ceremony doesn't really mark the "end of the road" as far as wedding rituals go.

  • Pay the balance on services rendered: Your wedding DJ might understand if you get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of the reception that it slips your mind to pay them before you leave. But they probably won't be so understanding if you take off on a four-week honeymoon to Punta Cana without mentioning when they can expect their payment.
  • If you're having a gift opening ceremony, keep it low-key and casual. This tradition can seem kind of sadistic - instead of lounging in bed on your first morning as a married couple, you get to go out and host the very same people you saw the night before If you do have a gift opening ceremony, try to keep it a low-key affair, with casual dress and just a relaxed atmosphere in general.
  • Write thank you cards for gifts and services. Although you traditionally have up to a year to send thank you notes, you may want to write them sooner rather than later to capture your excitement and sentiment while it's still fresh.
  • Enjoy your Honeymoon! Even if you're still so much on automatic planning pilot that you have to write it down.
